On Tuesday, under the spotlight of being the only league two game of the evening, a crowd of over 8000 and it being the biggest game for years, Bury failed to deliver.
This Saturday its all on Wycombe and Southend. Wycombe play at home to Morecambe, an unpredictable side and this for them is a must-win game so they are under pressure to perform. Southend are at home to play-off chasing Luton who's seven consecutive defeats in March and April made our mid season blip look pretty mild, but they are now back on course for a top seven finish.
There's a series of results which could make for a fascinating final day showdown: Wycombe and Southend both draw and we hammer Wimbledon by five goals, then all three teams would go into the final day on 82 points while Wycombe and Bury would have the same goals difference.
In fact if Wycombe draw 0-0 and Bury win 7-2 then we'd be third on alphabetical order with the same points, goal difference AND goals scored.
Either way, a win for Bury and we at least take it to Tranmere a week tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the plastic scousers could be relegated tomorrow if they fail to win, and Hartlepool beat Exeter, but if they keep themselves alive for another week it will make for a hell of an occasion when we go there.
