Bury 4 Cheltenham 1. Its Goals Galore at Gigg
by The Boy Holty
Bury finally look like they're finding their groove. Saturday's game against Cheltenham, a decent side, was the best all-round performance I have seen for a long time. We now have had 12 different goalscorers in just seven games, we've scored three goals or more in over half of our games and we've won our last two home games 3-0 and 4-1.
After going a goal down to a soft own goal in the third minute, we started to put on a show and 13 minutes later we were 3-1 in front.
Danny Mayor, having his best game in a Bury shirt, showed some real quality when he lashed a 30 yard shot into the top corner to level things up at 1-1, then a few minutes later Andy Procter made up for his own goal by getting his head on the end of a cheeky corner kick routine and powering the ball into the back of the net. He looked a happy boy celebrating that one. Five minutes later and it was Nathan Cameron, getting his first career goal and it was 3-1. On the stroke of half time, Forrester got on the end of a lovely move which gave him a one-on-one and should have done better, finishing into the side betting when 4-1 would have put this game to bed.
The second half started and the expected onslaught from the away side never arrived. The game had gone scrappy but Bury continued to attack and look for goals. In the end it was that man Big Jessy Reindorf who headed a pinpoint Mayor cross into the net to cap off a fantastic day for Bury.
The only disappointment was a crowd of just under 3000, but as Cheltenham only brought about 50 fans, and they're hardly a big draw, its still an improvement on last season.
We're looking good now and i'm beside myself with excitement for next Saturday when its Rochdale away. Cheap beer, all the lads in attendance and if Bury carry on like this i can see us scoring another four goals.
