Hi. Its been a bit quiet round here lately so I thought I'd post an update of some of the activity since the end of last season.
A creditable 14th place finish didn't seem too shabby at all considering it was our first season in league one although being 3rd in October and suffering about a dozen consecutive away losses (some of them very heavy) was a bitter pill to swallow and had many Bury fans questioning Flitcroft's ability to take the team forward.
Sadly since then we've dropped to 16th courtesy of some spectacularly inept senior management of the club as youngster Callum Styles was not eligible to play in the last game against Southend. Honestly it beggars belief sometimes, the haphazard way in which this once great football club is being run.
On more positive matters there has been some player movement.
Leaving Bury are Chris Hussey to Sheffield United, Danny Rose to Mansfield Town, Joe Riley to Shrewsbury and Ryan Lowe (*again) to Crewe (again).
These are all decent players so what has DF done to replace them?
In come Ben Williams from Bradford and Chris Kirkland to hopefully reduce the number of goalkeepers to represent Bury this season to a maximum of two (we had about eight last season).
In come Niall Maher from b****n and Anthony Kay from MK Dons to add some cover in defence. We also have Greg Leigh as left back from Bradford to replace Hussey.
In comes Zeli Ismail from Wolves to play right midfield.
Finally we can welcome Nicky Clarke from Rangers as a striker.
I would hope that there is more to come, but for now things seem to be shaping up nicely.
