Big Weekend - but are we too late?
by The Boy Holty
With two massive games for Bury this weekend, you could argue that its make or break time, but the truth is that with a seven point gap between us and the second and third placed teams, anything less than six points and we could be left with a points gap that begins to look unassailable.
We do have our game in hand against Southend but my concern is that by the time that comes round the top three might already be out of sight and with Bury having an inferior goals difference to all the teams above us, we may find ourselves gearing up for the play-offs.
But as Lenny Kravitz said, its not over baby till its over, and we'll go into Friday's match at Cambridge and then Monday's home fixture against Morecambe full of confidence and perfectly capable of picking up the six points needed to put the top three under a bit of pressure because the last thing we need is for Wycombe, Shrewsbury and Burton to start enjoying themselves as they see a nice easy run in opening up before them.
One thing's for sure, if we do end up in the play-offs, we'll be travelling a long way for the away leg as our opponents will be anyone from Southend, Luton, Newport, Northampton, Plymouth, Stevenage or Exeter. Assuming we finished 4th or 5th, the first leg will be away on Saturday May 9th at 7.45pm, and the second leg would be at Gigg on Thursday 14th May at 7.45pm.
The final will be at Wemberlee on Saturday May 23rd at the genius kick off time of 5.30pm.
But listen to mister bloody negative over here, there's still automatic promotion and even the championship to play for so COME ON BURY, up the Shakers!
