Shakers on the up?
by The Boy Holty
I vowed after the Luton game in the FA Cup not to go and watch Bury until they "stopped being a useless bunch of wankers". They now appear to have done this after a good run culminating in Saturday's win which was probably the best result of the season so far.
We now have three consecutive wins, one goal conceded in four games and only one defeat in the last nine matches. The last time we let in two goals in a game was in the win at Northampton in December. We're now sixth, just five points behind third placed Wycombe and nine behind leaders Burton.
We've hit form at the right time and if it continues we'll be in prime position for automatic promotion, but let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet because there's a long way to go with 13 matches left to play.
Those games include Luton on Tuesday (where a 2-0 win could put us 4th), in-form Northampton, Southend, Newport, Shrewsbury and Portsmouth plus games against a few teams facing relegation (who are always a danger).
With the training now having moved to Carrington, and the boost that must be giving the players and coaching staff, good times surely lie ahead for the mighty Shakers.
Its going to be a very interesting run-in and I would say that the playoffs is the least we can expect, with a top three finish a real possibility.
