Bury v Accrington
by The Boy Holty
Apparently Ian Rush says that if you don't drink milk, you'll only ever be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley. Well the milk avoiders are Gigg Lane's visitors on Saturday as James Beattie brings his team to face the mighty Shakers.
I quite like James Beattie. He's always immaculately presented, very well spoken and having dropped down the leagues to manage a league two side, when he could have walked into an easy job as Tottenham's under 14s coach on double the salary, I think he deserves our respect.
Accrington are second from bottom of the league with a single point from their opening four games, and that was acquired against highly tipped Luton Town last week who had to come from two goals down to get an away point when they would have expected three. In other words, Accrington have been rubbish, just as everyone always expects them to every single season.
Bury however, have seemingly recovered from an opening day defeat against Cheltenham and a sickening defeat in the league cup against scum to record two wins and an unlucky draw in our next three games. Does this mean we're on track for promotion? Well if the players think we are, then we're doomed. They need to keep on working hard and fighting for the cause and if they do that, we should walk all over teams like Accrington.
Last season and just over a year ago, Blackwell's Bury hammered Stanley 3-0 at Gigg to record our first points of the season and then drew a re-arranged match at the Crown Ground 0-0 in February. Its always good fun against Accrington and they will no doubt bring their usual 200-300 fans, which to be fair is about half their normal home attendance.
Prediction: Bury 3 Accrington 0. Our goals will be scored by Adams, Lowe and Rose.
Meanwhile, I've been learning to speak French and I hope to incorporate bits of French in my match reports, previews and news items as the season goes on. Au revoir.
