Hartlepool United 0 Bury 2
by The Boy Holty
Bury finally got their first league goals and points with what seemed like a routine victory at Hartlepool. A first half headed goal from Daniel Nardiello from some great build-up play and a sublime Ryan Lowe cross got us underway. In the second half, Lowe struck the cross bar from outside the area, and then Hartlepool started to exert some pressure. With 20 minutes remaining, Flitcroft took Lowe off and replaced him with returning striker Danny Rose, signed on loan with a view to a permanent move. It took Rose just six minutes to seal the win, latching onto long ball from Soares that the home defender mis-controlled just inside his own half and going round the keeper to slot it home and make it 2-0.
I didn't go to this one and got all my match information from the BBC and the Football League show, in case you couldn't tell. Having already ticked this ground off in the early 1990s, I didn't feel any particular compulsion to traipse half way across the country for the match.
So we're off and running, and up to 11th. Its a tough one on Tuesday as we make the long trip down to Kenilworth Road. Luton v Bury match preview to come tomorrow.
