Bury 2 York City 1
by The Boy Holty
David Flitcroft got his first win as Bury manager with a hard fought victory over York City. this win should never have had to be hard fought as Bury, having scored after 43 seconds through Anton Forrester and doubled their lead when Nathan Cameron capitalised on a monumental goalkeeping howler, then missed a number of great chances to score more goals. Nardiello put the ball wide when clean through on goal, Mayor blasted wide when he had the goal at his mercy and in the second half, Forrester missed another great chance when one-on-one with the keeper.
Almost inevitably, York scored although it looked suspiciously offside and the final 15 minutes was nail-biting although York didn't offer much and Bury saw out the pressure to finish 2-1 winners.
There was yet more cause for optimism, with Gareth Roberts again doing well, Hinds and Sedgewick both making massive contributions and some clever substitutions and tactical tweaks from the new boss. On the negative side, Dean Howell is bloody awful and his days as a Bury player must surely be numbered.
So a win's a win and we're out of the bottom two and up to the heady heights of 20th.
