    End of Season Awards
by The Boy Holty (March 11, 2015)

On 21st April Bury FC are holding their annual End of Season Awards. I wonder who are the main contenders for the Player of the Season awards.

While its true that Nick Pope and Adam El-Abd have made a big difference for us, they've only been at the club for a few weeks so probably won't be contenders. Of the players who have been at the club all season, or most of it, here's a few who might be up for the big award.

Central defender Nathan Cameron was signed by Kevin Blackwell and failed to impress under the former manager. Under Flitcroft he didn't start the season well in my opinion and in some of the early games I genuinely couldn't understand why he was being selected, but over time he has grown into a fantastic defender and a real leader on the pitch and with some great recent performances will probably end up with the award.

Striker Daniel Nardiello has consistently scored the goals that have kept us in the promotion race until this point. He has scored nine league goals plus four in the cups and while Danny Rose has scored more league goals, Nardiello has been more consistent and since November hasn't gone more than four games without scoring. His experience has been key for us this season.

At his best Danny Mayor is 'unplayable', which is an expression used by David Flitcroft meaning that defenders cannot deal with him when he's drifting around the pitch with the ball at his feet, mesmerising fans and opposition defenders alike, frequently cutting inside from the left and unleashing quality shots on goal. His eight goals this season don't tell the full story and he'll surely be playing in a higher league pretty soon - let's hope its with Bury. he's been a vital player for the Shakers in 2014/15.

Other players who have impressed of late include Tom Soares and Andrew Tutte, but neither have done it for long enough to put them in contention for the award.

As for the Young Player of the Season, its between the Dannies of Rose and Mayor in my opinion for their goals and all round contribution.
