    We're going to be alright
by The Boy Holty (October 2, 2011)

The season so far has been something of a rollercoaster. We started well with a draw at Huddersfield and wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe plus the cup win against Coventry. There was only the Carlisle defeat which took the gloss off slightly. Since that good start, we lost Lowe and Mozika at the close of the transfer window and Shumacher and Hughes picked up injuries and then it all started going wrong for the Shakers.

In truth, there aren't many teams who could survive the loss our four key players and not suffer a downturn in fortunes. Then the players brought in to replace or cover for the losses were good quality, but not match fit.

Shaun Harrad, who hasn't scored yet, hadn't played since last season, Giles Coke came with a good reputation but he hadn't played for months either. Ashley Eastham and Shane Bryne were both reserve team players at other clubs and hadn't seen much first team action in a while.

With this in mind, its hardly surprising that we had a bad run of results. We lost to Charlton and Sheffield United (which is no disgrace) and we were hammered by Hartlepool and lost narrowly at Chesterfield and there was the matter of the Rochdale game which is best forgotten.

Last weekend against McDons, it looked to be getting better then last Saturday, we went to Yeovil and won 3-1. Amongst the scorers at Huish Park was David Amoo, on loan from Liverpool who could be one of those loan signings who makes a real difference.

As the new players get fit, and as they get used to playing together as a team, we will improve. having completed our first 11 fixtures and seen what we've seen, I can see a mid table finish for Bury on the cards. Apart from five or six outstanding teams in this league, the rest are pretty mediocre and if Saturday's Yeovil performance and result is anything to go by, we'll be fine.
